My most used knife.

Dragonfly Stainless? A bit small for my EDC taste, but much less "weapon like" and likely to be perceived as more of a gentleman's knife. Good choice!

Thanks! I work in the middle of the city. I can see Shock Trauma out my office window. During the semesters I teach and am around more students, this is my preferred EDC knife. During the summer "break" when I don't have as many students, if any, I've gone to a Spyderco Delica 4. It's still city legal and gives me a little better blade length. In fact, the Delica 4 is now what I carry when I go backpacking, camping, climbing, and everything else while away from work.

OP, great story and testament to the practicality and usefulness of the tiny Swiss Army knife. I've owned and still have several. I have different models of the tiny variety, three I purchased in Austria and had engraved.

Over years of use, I found the plastic handles do crack, and the scissors spring will eventually break, the tiny blades are very practical and factory sharp. Too bad tsa doesn't allow these on a commercial plane; I'm now considering the Leatherman PS for this purpose.

Anyone have any other recommendations for a airplane legal tool?

I carry a Leatherman PS. It has no blade. I always have a knife anyway. This also makes it TSA compliant and I have carried it through airport checkpoints. It has a carabiner to attach to your key ring as well. If you want a blade thier model CS has one.

That's one reason I made the leather pouch sheath for it to go on my keyring. Aside from making the knife more accessible for use, it gives some protection tot he plastic scales from being banged all to hell by keys and stuff. But since I do use the heck out of it, I manage to use one about every ten years. Heck, it's a ten dollar life at Walmart or Target, why not use the ever lovin dog poo out of it!

My Byrd Hawkbill has been with me for 3+ years already. Breaking down cardboard boxes, rope, cordage, opening boxes. Still sharp as can be.
Lightweight, perfect size for my hands. Added a kydex "wave" to facilitate one handed quick opening and provides a nice big thumb ramp. About $20 so if I lose it, no sweat. Still tight lockup and no plade play on either axis.
