As part of the great spring clean up/out, I found these two pocket knives in a box I brought home recently from my mothers.

These are the first two pocket knives I ever carried and while they are currently in tough shape, I'd like to clean then up if possible.

Fair bit of rust and gunk cover all the metal surfaces (blades, springs, bolsters, scale liners) and I don't know where to start.

    Suggestions welcome --

    Where they send me.
I would see if the original makers offer that service, I know Buck does.

If not, you could get a long way with an ultrasonic cleaner. Solvent tank could be an option but I wouldn't use that on the plastic handle. Key thing if you do it yourself is to go slow and use things that won't damage it any.

With a little time you can get them back into service. Tough to make them look like new again though.
