Took my new toy out for a shake down today.
It took a little playing with it to get it to work and then it was really great tool for shooters and reloaders.
Setup: The Kit comes with everything you need to setup indoors/outdoors and low light conditions. Comes with 2 sun shades for bright outdoor setup and a set of LED lamps for indoor low light conditions. It is pretty sensitive to low light as I discuss later. The low light LED strips come with both a 12v plugin power supply or, if you are not close to an outlet, a DC battery pack to power the lights. Additionally, it comes with a Tri-pod so you are not stacking things to perfect the Chrono's height. Setup took a few minutes, installing the battery is a breeze and the battery compartment is large enough to store an extra battery so it doesn't crap out on you at the range from a low battery. (nice feature as I discovered). The 30' cable allows you to connect to your phone and set the Chrono a fair distance away. This works great for my go to range at Izzak Walton in Rockville. The rifle house requires you set the chrono outside the baffle room. It took me about 5 mins to assemble the tripod, chrono and connect to my phone. Initially I could not get the Chrono to connect to my phone. After resetting phone, app and swapping cable a few times I put in a fresh battery(nice to have the spare battery storage in the chrono for just such a situation). Bingo connected right away.
The app was not intuitive but I setup and shot a string before I realized I could by putting in the Zip code have the Temp, Pressure and Humidity entered automatically in the app. You can also setup the round specifics: Weight, BC. It will then calculate from velocity of the shot energy. It also calculates Mean velocity, Standard Deviation, Max, Min, Spread. When your done shooting a group you can take a picture of the target, define the scale mark your shots and it will calculate spread and record the target. Damn cool! Here is the output, less the picture which I didn't take, next time>

Overall pretty cool. It was getting dark and I wasn't able to keep shooting once I figured out the nuances of the Chrono but I can't wait to use it next time.
