Wayne1one Give us some specs looks like a Remington 700 SPS with a stock some bottom metal and threaded. Looks very nice, getting ready to build something along those lines, like to hear your specs. Thanks.

I bought a pair of low rings monday and mounted the scope. I didnt like the feel, so I picked up the taller rings. I wish the lowers felt better because visually I think it looks alot better.

Did you lower the comb on the stock when you had the lower rings on it ?

I did I even at one point took it off to see if that would help.

Where it was for the picture is not where I would have it to shoot. My kid was looking thru the scope so I have to lift it for him.

I wonder if it has something to do with the pistol grip, but ideally you don't want you optics that much higher than you bore.

Remington 700 Varmint in .223. Bushnell 6-24x40 and bipod came with it. Which is nice because its already set up to kill coyotes.

Drooling. Can't wait to join you guys. I'm in the process of researching everything and figuring out what to buy. Y'all have been a huge help. I'll have my rig up and shooting around spring break. I'll break it in on the hundreds of miles of flat and barren West Texas grassland. Any advice for a novice long range shooter (maybe ignorant is the right word)?

If you spend more up front it will save you tons later. Too many people buy "good enough to start" type equipment and then find that the $400 scope gets immediately replaced with a $900 scope. Also if your looking at adding a detachable magazine, take into consideration the entire cost of the new stock + bottom metal + bedding, etc. You might find that there are many different complete chassis systems that are a better bang for your buck.

Bedding is easily done in a day, so the only cost is about $12 worth of materials.

Seekins DBM is $220, figure about 60 for 5-round mags from Brownells. An A-series with thumbwheel cheekpiece runs about 500 from mcmillan.

that's a good sight better than $1k+ for an AICS.

My decision was based on this -

$450 for Stock - Bell & Carlson Tactical Medalist Style
$250 for DBM - M4 Flush Mount Detachable Magazine Assembly

$700 or stock + DBM or $700 for the AICS 1.5. Then out of impulse i upgraded the 1.5 to a 2.0

the badger m4 isn't a dbm. their dbm is the m5, and is a goodly bit more spendy than the m4. also, the B&C anything isn't even close to a mickey.

ETA: And the AICS 1.5 is a good chunk more expensive than 700 bucks; I'm not sure where you saw it listed at that price, but if you aren't gonna buy it let me know. Damn.
