google is your friend, I am not.
With Baltimore suffering more than a homicide a day to start 2017, Mayor Catherine Pugh said Wednesday that the city's crime-fighting strategy has not been enough to stem the killings, and her administration is searching for solutions.

    and this is priceless:

She noted that police shot and killed an 18-year-old man Tuesday, one day after he was released from jail. The unidentified teen was out on bail after being charged with gun and drug felonies.

Police said the teen had a gun when an officer shot him.

Law-abiding citizens over 21 have to wait 7 days to get a gun, and cannot get a permit to carry.

Teenage felons out on bail, not so much.

Pugh is searching for solutions. Maybe she should try Google. There are lots of cities, like Dallas with significantly lower crime rates. Funny thing though, in Dallas, law abiding citizens can get a gun is a day, and also a permit to carry. Felons stay in jail.

Maryland is such a mess. It's leadership is clueless and it's electorate blind and ignorant. I'm so glad I left the state.

Not just MD. Eventually the bleeding hearts will realize we now have an entire generation of thugs that cannot be rehabilitated and the only punishment that might bother them is death.

I thought she had a plan? Didn't she spell out in her platform how she was going to take care of the homicide issue? Hmm, guess not.

So you're saying the glorious and mighty FSA of 2013 isn't doing jack Schmidt to keep folks from getting shot and people that shouldn't legally have guns from getting guns? Who woulda thunk?

Don't get so bent out of shape - at least they are ticketing cars parked in bike lanes -so not all criminals get off scott-free.

You're talking about a Maryland Democrat. She thinks FSA 2013 didn't go far enough to keep folks from getting shot.

Thought this relevant to share here...

And I'm sure the citizens of the city feel so much safer when their mayor comes out with a statement that she doesn't want to see any get hurt.

Well guess what babe, they're dying at an alarming rate. Just a wee bit more dire than getting hurt.

Democrats; evidence of brain dead politics.

How about enforcing laws instead of assisting law-breakers by funding their defense ???

Baltimore among 11 jurisdictions that will provide legal help for immigrants in deportation cases
Mayor Catherine Pugh announced Thursday plans to provide increased support for immigrants facing deportation proceedings.

Baltimore is one of 11 jurisdictions that joined to form the SAFE Cities Network, a group devoted to providing publicly-funded legal representation for immigrants threatened with deportation. Prince George’s County is also part of the national network, which is supported by grant money from the Vera Institute of Justice.

“Our community is safest when our neighbors trust their officials and institutions and know they will be treated justly and with dignity,” Pugh said in a news release. “Providing legal representation to those facing deportation maintains trust in law enforcement and our local institutions and keeps us all safe. If our residents don’t feel safe – for example, coming forward to report crimes and cooperating with law enforcement – all of us are at more risk.”
