I sent my other slide off to Glock today, stripped everything but the sights. Now we shall see how long this takes to get it back. From what I’ve read look to be around a month for a refinish, hopefully it turns out decent.

The magic was the free slide parts. Glock charges $67 to install night sights in your factory glock pistol, and if you send them the slide stripped, they’ll replace the slide internals for free ($100 worth of parts for nothing).

So for $67 I got factory glock steel night sights and all slide internals.

Also the threaded barrel was stupid cheap. BCA had a massive sale

Apparently you can do the same while having them install the cheap plastic sights.

Just got a shipping notification this evening showing my slide is on its way back from Glock, not bad turn around time for a refinish and sight replacement, sad part is I’m working away from home and it needs an adult signature, hopefully my mother in law will be around on Friday. I’ll post pictures when I get a chance.

Well upon my arrival home after being gone all week at work my wife handed me a package marked GI.
My slide was sent away on March 29th and arrived back April 13th, not bad turn around time for sights and a refinish. They also replaced all internal parts, and even sent along a new guide rod/spring for $0.00.
    Before and after.

So, here's my latest actual build costs for my compact:
    80% Frame + frame parts: $165 (MagCommander)
    BCA Threaded Barrel: $56 (BCA)
Glock Slide Parts Kit: $80 (Brownells)
Brownells RMR-cut slide (no window): $175 (Brownells)
AmeriGlo Suppressor Sight Heights: $68 (Amazon)
    =$544

    Remaining items:
    TBRCi Micro Comp: $70
    11lb Recoil Spring: $11
Holosun HS507C or Used RMR: $300
    =$381

So, should be under a thousand bucks by the time I'm done, which is acceptable. The funny thing here is, there was almost no additional cost to go threaded and RMR cut when building my own, versus quite a bit if I had bought factory.

That said, it seems that new stripped Glock frames have dropped so far in price when on sale ($50) that even with shipping and the semi-outrageous transfer fees around here, it would still be cheaper and easier to use those for builds, especially if bought 2-3 at a time. (Double-plus if we group-buy for shipping.)

Factory frame would mean caving to the HQL, and that's just not an option for me.

If it means an extra $100 or so out of my pocket, then so be it.

Thought frames alone were 4473, and no HQL. What if you wanted it for a MechTech or something like that?

Believe that pistol frames are still 77R and HQL, but I could be mistaken.

For a PCC, plenty of other options available.

Yup, as stated the factory frames are considered the registered firearm.

As a side note http://www.21sportsapparel.com has 20% off store wide with code 21forlife . Quite a nice discount should someone be looking for a poly 80 lower and parts. That also includes free shipping.
