Geez, why won't they except the digital fingerprints and go all digital?

All FL residents have digital fingerprints last time I check.

Good to catch up on this. Time for me to renew my FL non-res.

I had my twin passport photos ready for submission, or have they changed that?

The main reason is that you can't submit scanned prints across state lines directly to that state 's CJIS systems.State fingerprint scanners are connected directly to the state system and don't use the public Internet. It's a security issue. This is a problem nationwide.

Maybe in the future but not right now.

If you do the online renewal, you use digital photos and upload them a la Utah's renewal process. They instruct you how to crop them to the correct size via the U.S. State Dept's passport photo sizing tool.

the web site says you must have prints done at a LE office. That means cards IMO.

Why do they need fingerprints again? They already have them. They do not change. If they want to run the prints, run the cards they already have again.

Or actually, they probably scanned them to run them the first time. So they should have them electronically.

I love it, I get my prints scanned, to be printed on a form, to be scanned. :D

Why do they even need fingerprints a 2nd time? It's not like your prints change.

This was asked and I agreed. But VA ,NV, CT and others still require it.

Govt. does stupid stuff all the time.

considering prints "go stale" after a period of time [being sarcastic here] in the state of maryland, if you don't get all the stuff done within a certain period of time, after being printed for the HQL, you must get reprinted, yes? so, couldn't someone make the argument, that if they commit a crime 9.5 years after being printed for the HQL, and the prints were traced back to that person, that they couldn't use those prints found at the crime scene because the state would have a hard time convincing the court that those were actually the criminals prints, due to them being stale, as this state renders them? my current prints have change very little since i was employed by the United States Navy in '75, just saying'.

prints don't go stale in MD, it's just CJIS holds the images for 30 days for non criminal checks.

The license is good for 10 years, your prints who knows?

I just Renewed My Florida CC week before last. I walked into the Jacksonville office Signed two Docs presented a check for $50 USD's and walked into a room sat for a Photo and waited less than 2 mins for a card to pop out of the Machine! The whole Process was less than 6 Mins. No new FPC needed.

I might just have to time my renewal with another Disney trip. That's when I went to get my original :)

Was this for a resident or non resident CCW?

ANYONE can renew a FL license if they go to an instate service center.

As noted, in state renewals don't require prints again.

    Don't ask me why.
