Only issue I've had with their barrels so far is that I bent the gas tube trying to get the flash hider off. Apperbtly they really crank them down. Lots of complaints in other forums.

You may have broke the barrel loose from the extension.

Melonite is better than chrome. It offers a very thick layer of hardened material which is very very slick. Depending on the steel used, it can be as good, or much better than chrome. My choice for rifle barrels is as follows 4150 nitride, 4140 nitride, chrome lined 4150, chrome lined 4140, stainless, naked CMV
I ordered a 10.5" from Joebob http://www.joeboboutfitters.com/Rad...l_SBR_Upper_w_Se_p/rf-nobcg-mcsr-10.5-556.htm Is this the good melonite you speak of? It's on sale $249 Hardened arms had a 10.5 for less($214) (Joebob one was $299 when I ordered) but I said what the heck cause I'm starting out with a pistol but going SBR later.

Plus the HA one did not say anything about barrel finish or lining.
