Any suggestions on barrels that meet the criteria? I’m sure there’s not many short HBAR barrels that I have millions of choices. I’ll pick the handguard based on barrel/muzzle device length.

With everyone panicking I feel under gunned. I think 1 more will do it.

Not a lot of 13" hbars out there.

I like that look too and did something similar to my SBR. Honestly though, it all started because i ordered the wrong hand guard.

I ended up shimming the muzzle device out to get the break past the hand guard and put a hand stop on the end. I love this set up, its a fireball shooter with the right ammo

AJ....if youre building an AR pistol (less than 16 inches with a brace) it doesn't need to be an HBAR...that's only for rifles.....haven't I taught you anything????
    :D
He is building a rifle. At least he was at the beginning of this thread...

I’m putting the pieces together for another AR build and I have a certain look in mind. Thinking a Noveske Flaming Pig would give me the look while not risking damaging the handguard with a traditional A2 flash hider?

I have the same thing on my 300 BO and it works great.

The only issue I have with new builds and open handguards is gas hitting my hand during early shooting until carbon fills in the gaps at the gas block. It feels like an electric shock.

I've used the Presma handguard on my competition PCC build. It's not gonna set the world on fire, but it works well enough. Really, the biggest problem with the cheap handguards is that they're not dehorned very much, and can be somewhat uncomfortable without gloves. The Presma was fine in this regard. I vaguely recall the Combat Armory handguard being more of a problem.

Seems similar but cheaper. This handguard is almost too cheap, makes me wonder if absolute garbage?

Erwos hit the nail on the head.
Jon, I have a Monstrum handguard you can fondle and understand the sharp edges. I have been tempted to take a Dremel to edges and then painting the handguard.

C'mon fellas. What's to de-horn? You throw a rubber ladder on the top rail (I do this even on my de-horned rails) and you won't hurt your fingers.

The thing you need to dehorn are the HOLES, not the top rail. The top rail, as noted, can be solved with a rubber ladder cover for the most part. But the edges of those holes can be sharp. Ditto for the front edge of the handguard.

That KAK website isn’t the most user friendly. Looks at first glance that the longest they make is 5”. With a 11.5” barrel I’ll be clear of 16” requirement and fit within a 16.5” handguard.

Probably better to go with a longer barrel and shorter muzzle device for accuracy/velocity.
