I got this barrel from Bear Creek Arsenal earlier this year, and later got a thread protector from Midway. Both say they are 1/2"x28, but they don't work together. Anyone have experience with this barrel? I'm thinking maybe it is metric and not 1/2x28 like they say.

A lot of AR-pattern 9mm barrels are threaded 1/2"-36. It's to keep anybody from screwing a .223 sized muzzle device on a 9mm (.354") sized barrel.

It’s probably listed incorrectly. My brother bought a 16” 9MM barrel from them that was supposedly 1/2x36 but the 1/2x36 thread protector he bought wouldn’t fit. A quick search of the part number bought up the same barrel on Classic Firearms with the correct thread dimensions of 5/8x24. It wouldn’t surprise me if they messed up the thread info on other barrels. I think they try to put out too many different barrels and can’t keep the information straight, that or they switch thread sizes and don’t update the descriptions. Either way it sucks to spend $50-100 on a muzzle device only to find out it doesn’t fit the barrels threads.

Thanks guys I'll try a 1/2 x36 to see what happens.

I have a thread gauge I can check it with, but not sure if it goes that tight/little.
