You've been killing it! I've been out a couple times and had average trips. Taking my dads boat out Saturday, gonna head down to the middle grounds and find some blues/macs. Maybe go a little further south and try to find a cobia.

Good Luck! Hope you find a Cobia. I've never caught one myself. Heard some decent blues are showing up in the Upper Bay now.

Would you guys recommend something like this to start out? I checked out the local Walmart but honestly don't know what's good for the price. Some of my coworkers said to check out Amazon and this one has a lot of good reviews.

I only plan on fishing around Loch Raven or around my area in HarCo.

Those things will prob break at any big/decent fish...see below.
Go to walmart and grab an Ugly stick kit. For like 30 bucks you will be good to go on most fish being caught from the shore around here.
Yep ugly stick is the way to go...

    that would do it...

I did see one broke into about 6 pieces at a local fishing pond...I guess the person got mad and broke it...because there arent any fish big enough to break an ugly stick there, or maybe he got torqued off he closed the car door on it..;)

Went out today and got our limit by 10am and then did some catch and release after. Biggest was a little over 30"

Caught another large mouth bass in our neighborhood pond. assuming it was around 14-15 inches. I didn't think my line was going to last. Thankfully it was on my 8lb setup and not the 6, going forward I'm replacing the 6lb line. Didn't think I would need stronger line here but I was clearly wrong. Wasn't too bad until he went into a bunch of algae/plants.

Is that Ashburn Village? I used to fish the ponds in there quite often. The bass were tough but I usually caught 2-5 every time I went. Then people started keeping them (it's supposed to be catch and release only). The big pond had a 10 pounder but someone caught it and kept it :mad54:

It is a pond located in a smaller neighborhood. No public access but lots of people still fish it. It's just south of the greenway. Very small vs ashburn village.
