Life long shooter and safety fanatic. Grew up in S&W country shooting center fire target with swappable barrels .22/.45/.222, .22 semi-auto pistol junk (stove piped 1:20), .45 Smith and Wesson revolver, 12 gauge Browning with extension tube for skeet, .22 varmint control. Love funky stance pleasure shooting like the ridiculous Clint Eastwood stances if safe to perform. Love a Glock 22 3rd gen with lowered trigger weight to 3 pounds, no lower or I get unintentional double shots.

    Full Civilian

Welcome from Davidsonville. Let us know if you are a Vet as it makes you training exempt when applying for your Handgun Qualification License (HQL) This is needed in MD if you want to purchase any restricted firearms. (pistols and evil looking rifles and some shotguns)

Thank you for the warm welcome everyone!

A little bit more about me, I was in progress of getting my Concealed Carry in MA which is not as difficult as it is here believe it or not. Life happened and I needed to move here quickly. Now I have a Certified NRA Pistol with 2 HR live fire MA Chiefs of Police Training but I live in MD. So is the consensus that I need to get a MD Police Chiefs HQL training even though it is the exact same NRA 2 HR live fire training? I guess I need to go down to a Balto County Barracks, my address is in the County not City proper by a few 100 feet. I'm near Catonsville, where do people shoot skeet or indoor pistol?

    Welcome....

    Public Access for Skeet...

Loch Raven is going to be your closest. (Trap, Skeet and Five Stand)

PG Trap and Skeet is down near Goddard Space Flight Center in PG County. ( Trap, Skeet, Five Stand, Sporting Clays)

Both are really nice public ranges that have multiple games available.

There are private clubs around that have Skeet fields. They usually have limited public shoots.

I am applying for a carry permit. How do I get exempt as a military veteran from the training..
I have a Purple Heart and Combat Infantry Badge from Nam in 1969. Am very familiar with firearms.

Welcome! I also live in Westgate, 21229, on the county side of the line.

My plan is to join one of the clubs at AGC after I have settled in and sorted out some issues. Marriottsville is not very far and other than the usual slow traffic on the beltway near US 40, most of the time it is an easy 30 minute drive.

There is no exemption for the training portion of the CCW as far as I know. I was referring to the exemption from HQL training if you are a Vet.
