I'm thinking of a 586 in the future too, not just because there's a 686 at home, but because I like the square instead of round butt revolvers, esp for longer barrels. Not that I would pass on a good price for either.

Anyway, minor thread contribution below. 686+ 3-inch and Manurhin MR73 4-inch checking out the same holster.

Then this would be my Drop Leg candidate: picked up this first generation S&W 686 from a member here to take the place of the modern 686 with the Infernal Lock/Hillary Hole in my gun box.

Gonna sell it and be free of the only Hillary Hole Smith I ever acquired. Good riddance!

Here's the 1982 No Dash beaut...with swap out Arrends grips.

I just want to say WRT all of OldCarJunkie's posts - those are awesome and thanks for sharing photos of some rare Colts that (I at least) have never seen before.

Thank you, I have been buying more than my fair share of wheel guns lately. today i took out, the Colt officers model, Ruger Gp100, K38 and Smith 28-2. All worked well but the Gp100(post# 825) and K38(post # 864?) were my favorites today. Also shot TodBiker's VP9 today and it shoots really nice.

looks like a lefty chest rig maybe.
    I go both ways.

And you're correct about it being a chest rig - thanks to a recent thread here. Found the lefty on sale at a big markdown, so got it even though I'm right handed as I shoot with either, and figure my left might be more free when hiking.

This new 10-5 just wandered in. It joined its cousins Model 64 and 686. First blued wheelgun and I can't wait to see if the trigger is just as sweet as the 64.

Three years after Dirty Harry was released, and one year after Eastwood did Magnum Force. Very nice.

Great find. Hard to get more classic than a blued, 4-inch barreled K-frame S&W revolver. Arguably the "Glock" of the post-WWII wheel gun era.

Colt Model 357 I picked up a few years ago. I like the Model 357 and old Troopers more than the Python. This one is in real good shape. Pretty much like new.
