A little project. I should have taken some before pics but thought it wasn’t going to go that far. It is a Springfield Armory Loaded Target model in 9mm caliber. Some of the improvements had not been done in these pics. Now I just need to blast and retexture the outside of the pistol and call it a day. What I have done:
1. Trigger job done to achieve a safe, crisp 3 pound break;
2. Reprofile the grip safety to achieve a highertr hold. Nothing radical like a JEM or Ed Brown profile but just enough. Blended grip safety to the frame (full blend not in these pics);
3. Tuned the extractor and ejector;
4. Correct thumb safety fit, blended shield to the frame and grip safety. Moved the rear of the left side paddle forward for a higher grip and smoother draw (not shown in this pic). Now that I think of it, I still need to do that to the right side.
5. Properly fit the slide stop (Not shown in these pics);
6. Not pictured - rectified a crooked rear sight blade, sharpened the top of the front strap;
7. Relieved the top of the front strap to a neutral curve;
8. Lessened the front strap curve then stippled it;
9. Rebarreled it and fitted a match bushing. Corrected all timing issues. Chamfered and dressed the muzzle;
10. Eliminated ILS components;
11. Replace the cross cannon SA grips with a VZ set.
Shoots well even with bulk ammo and is polite in the hand.
