I have a 30 yr. old Browning Auto 5 and a 75 yr. old Remington Model 11. The Remington and older Auto 5's have a 1 piece lifter that requires pushing the bolt release to operate. The newer Auto 5 has a 2 piece lifter that allows loading without pushing the bolt release. Anyone know if the parts for the 2 piece lifter, which are readily available, will work in the Model 11?

The Auto 5 also has auto loading of the empty chamber with the bolt retracted when a shell is inserted into the mag. I don't expect that to work on the Model 11, but not having to push the bolt release would make loading on the clock during a 3-gun match easier.

general wisdom is the Belgian Brownings will not interchange parts with Remington or Savage guns except forearms and sometimes stocks, this includes the "American" Brownings built by Remington for Browning during and just after World War 2. Think of it as metric vs inch, same patents but different threads and sizes for screws and pins.

Well I did it. I ordered the 2 piece lifter and the latch. They were not quite drop in's in my Model 11, but they work fine.

This is the 2 piece lifter in a 1947 vintage Remington Model 11, Type 3. Works great. It provides the Browning Auto 5 Speed Load feature in the Remington clone.

This is pretty awesome! I have a beater 1920's Model 11 I may want to convert after seeing this. How much fitting was required?

    Parts needed:
    • 50440-B1111064 – 2 Piece Carrier Assembly 12ga
    • 50467-B1111107 – Carrier Spring
    • 50537-B1111269 LOCKING BLOCK LATCH, 12 ga. (FOR 2-PIECE CARRIER)
    • 50540-B1111277 LOCKING BLOCK LATCH Spring
    • Total: $129.
I got mine from Numrich. Little fitting needed. I ground the carrier just to make sure I had clearance from the carrier latch assembly.
I included photos from Numrich's website of the 2 piece carrier assembly and the locking block latch. My carrier spring from the Model 11 worked fine and didn't need replacing.
