Hello, I am looking at getting a couple of small aluminum pieces machined, but I don't have the tools to do it right. I am looking at having 2, long pieces (12" each) of aluminum milled to fit the spaces circled in the pic. I'm working on an idea and would really appreciate some help with this! Mainly looking for a hobby machinist to keep the price reasonable. Thanks for any info!

I'd use a hacksaw and table vise to make it. Grinder and sandpaper to thin it down if too thick. I make my own gun parts with basic tools like a drill press and hack saw. Good luck.

Same idea. But much easier. Use a jewelers saw
And files to finish. May need to add some screws thru the side to keep in place. Unless ya epoxy it

Looking at you other post I see what you are doing . I had a similar idea. I missed your earlier post.

So you are looking for a foot long piece of Aluminium with that profile.

Seeing how you have had experience in lost wax casting, maybe you could use that method to cast it in aluminum.

Are you sure you’ll need a piece with that profile. Perhaps you could use another material. It looks like a 1/4 inch of space there.

I appreciate all of your suggestions! I'll definitely try some of what was mentioned and post an update when I have made progress with the project!

I'm fairly sure I'll need something with that profile just because there's no support for the rods when all the way extended and I'm hoping the two corner would help retain a tighter fitting piece, but I will experiment with other shapes and see what I can come up with. :D
