One more question guys...when I am entering the data on the Training Exempt application, I don't have to put any Education records down right since I owned regulated firearms prior to October 1, 2013?

HQL process time
It took less than 24 hours for mine to be approved...I got my finger prints monday around noon, submitted the application in the evening and by the next evening I checked on the MSP site and it was already moved from Pending to Active. Still waiting on the card though.

Wife and I submitted ours tonight after getting fingerprints this afternoon. I'm not in a real rush, but wanted to get it done when I figured out we were both exempt from the training requirement.

As of this morning, less than 24 hours after submission, my wife's application checklist is completed. Mine is just about there but the JIS section says incomplete...

And now, 15 hours after application submitted, my wife's license is active. Still waiting on my JIS check, everything else done.
IIRC the JIS check is only done for applicants under 30.

Filed on 7/8 just received my hql card in the mail now 7/18. Now time to use it!!

I filed on 7/9 and my status just went active on the website, but no card in the mail. No handguns or handgun ammo at the show for me

You do not need the HQL to buy handgun caliber ammunition.

You just made my weekend!
I misinterpreted the "you may not be in possession of ammo if you are prohibited from owning the firearm it belongs to" language to mean I couldn't buy handgun ammo until I had the HQL. Thanks!
