Hey folks. My name is Daniel and I’m a Capricorn and enjoy long walks on the beach.

All kidding aside, I’m a former Army Ranger having proudly served with the 75th Ranger Regiment 2nd Battalion. I’m well-versed with the M4A1 but it’s been almost 15 years since I’ve shot it. I recently purchased a rifle and excited to be shooting again.

Glad to have stumbled across this community while trying to navigate and understand MD gun laws. I see a ton of different topics/threads throughout this forum and certainly appreciate all the helpful content.

With the recent increase in gun sales (especially for first-time gun owners), please make sure to educate yourselves about gun safety and know your firearm.

Happy to be here and I look forward to meeting you guys at the range. Safety first!

    Daniel

Welcome! From one Daniel to another.

    Thank you for your service.

I grew up in Silver Spring and lived there until college. Came back after and spent another 5 years in the area before moving to northern Baltimore County.

If you have any specific questions about Silver Spring and the surrounding areas, give me a holler. One thing I do miss about the area is the great El Salvadorian food.

Lot's of very experienced people on here regarding the AR platform, a few in particular.

Thanks for the warm welcome! I actually grew up around Silver Spring so I’m familiar with the area.

It was brutal trying to find an AR-15 type rifle that was MD compliant but thanks to the knowledgeable folks here, it made the search a whole lot easier. Although not my first choice, I ended up getting the LWRC DI rifle last week (still waiting for the transfer). I’ll eventually build my own AR and will certainly be leveraging the experience/knowledge from the community here. Man it feels like Christmas!

I purchased online and waiting for the seller to ship/transfer to a FFL. LWRC wasn’t my first choice but I know I won’t regret it.

LWRC is the cats a$$ man!

Add in the fact that every manufacturer, big, small, cheap, expensive is having trouble keeping up with demand, I can imagine it was tough.

As far as building, you have more options than you might think. The tricky part is the barrel but if you know the law and the right manufacturers, it's not difficult to make an excellent rifle that is within MD compliance and doesn't feel like a 10 foot lead pipe.

    Happy shooting...
