Another reason why you should visit Scott's Gunsmithing:

They can fix your screw ups. In this case, Chad specifically.

I broke one of the trigger guard ears on my AR lower trying to drive in the roll pin. He re-attached the trigger guard ear, color blended it...and viola! It looks literally like nothing happened to it.

The pics are not the best and don't do it justice...but still...they illustrate fairly well the A+ job Chad did.

    Give Scott's/Chad a visit!

What Chad meant to say ...

"Don't try this at home, I am a PROFESSIONAL."

    Nice work!

Did you re-attach the trigger guard ear with something like JBWeld, or did you weld it?

Or, would you have to kill me after revealing your secret? :D

I forget what sort of compound he used to reattach it. He said something about a proprietary glue that he brewed himself. He must keep it in some hidden CCW pocket because I saw him reach into his pants as he was going into the back to do it...:whoa:

    Hi Chad!

Thanks for the info. I'll wait until I have the complete upper before I bring it in. Should have it complete in a week or two. I'll touch base with you here before I bring it in. It will only be the upper, I don't have the lower yet, it was part of a group buy here and they wont get in until probably sept. Let me know if that is an issue.

My thought was to get the upper worked on while waiting for the lower, to get ahead of the curve, but if it is preferable to have the complete rifle, I can just wait. I was planning on bringing it in after it was complete anyway, so you guys can give it a "checkout" before taking it out on the range.

BTW, let me take this chance to thank you for ALL your contributions to this community. I'm not a big poster here but I do lurk a lot, absorbing as much information as I can. Can't tell you how much I've learned from reading your posts and advice to others; it's truly priceless.

Thanks again! Hopefully I'll get to meet you in person soon and shake your hand, it would be an honor. And, very respectfully, I hope your wife is feeling better and wish her a speedy recovery!

    Cheers,
    -Willy

Excellent Service across the board (AR15 Servicing)

    Hi Scott's Gunsmithing crew,

Wanted to write a review/ show appreciation.

Background is this: Just finished build my first AR. So brought it into Scott's shop for testing/ double checking it was correctly put together. So I had the pleasure of meeting gunsmith surgeon extraordinaire, Chad (Cladestine). Chad took a look at my AR and diagnosed my issue from the build I did. I had a misaligned gas tube. He sat there and talked to me about the rifle, commented I had great parts, and did a decent job on my build. He gave me a fair quote for the services needed and was able to order me some parts I was missing. He gave me an honest quote for the service and explained everything up front (very very much appreciated). I understood the shop was backed up on their work, so I understood it might take some time to have the service performed (early August at the latest). I agreed on the time hack because I was in rush to get the AR back.

So the service was performed very quickly and I was able to pick my rifle way before it was expected to be completed. All in all my business was very very professionally handled.

Figured I'd chime in here some appreciation and thanks for the service.

AR is definitely in great hands..Chad does amazing work. With his recommendations and work the AR he helped me build shoots dime size groups at 100 yards. It's hard to find somebody that puts as much pride into his work as he does.

Here is what my "Competition" does and considers is "Polishing and Contouring". It looks terrible IMO and they even leave out the Bolt Hold Open:sad20:
