I'm thinking of 230gr lead cast (powder coated) bullets out of a 308 win, using TrailBoss gun powder.
I haven't tried it as i haven't found much data on it. I have some 308 cast bullets that i also powder coated. they shoot fine in 300blk but i wanna try them in 308 win.
i'm not saying they are going to be gold metal match standard ammo etc etc with this. I'm just thinking of a plinking gun for shooting steel at a personal range.
Not seeing any published data for 230gr 308win makes me think this is sketchy as F*** but... another part of me says go for it. As long as it safely clears my rifle (no squib), doesn't explode ("i said safely clear").... i'll deal w/ the accuracy part as i go.. maybe.. if i care.
anyone have experience/feedback on 230gr out of 308? again.. dont care if it sucks or can't hit a broad side of a barn from the inside of the barn... asking if it's safe enough to mess around w/ or not.
