Private transfers out of state

Hello gents, I’ve read through most of the last 20 pages and if this is covered I missed it. As a MD resident what is stopping me from driving to say, WV, VA, or York, PA and purchasing a long gun via private transfer, without an FFL? Anything?

Also this sucks!

Minor detail! But, if my sister and mom live in York, PA and they bought a rifle then they could give it to me?
