I usually give away lead wheel weights when I get a full 5gal bucket. It's yours if you want as it's just about full. My shop is on Harford Rd in Kingsville/Hydes area. Send a PM if interested

Thanks for the offer but I am looking for lead sheet. Lead Sheet is pure lead and is really the only lead that will give good accuracy out of muzzleloaders. Wheel weights are much harder and work for cartridge reloading but not muzzle stuffers.

    Thanks again for the consideration.

If he buys a finished product it will cost a lot.

When there is left over lead lined drywall a superintendent in the company will peel the lead off the back to cast.

I used to cast minie balls, and I once had the misfortune to get some sheet lead from a scrap yard. It was the filthiest lead I ever dealt with. I quickly realized that the reason was that sheet lead is almost all surface, and no interior! It was easy to cut up, though. I thought the crud would never stop rising to the top, though. I never skimmed so much filth.

The nicest stuff I found was a bunch of bricks. pure lead bricks 8" by 4" by 2" (I just measured one), weighing about 26 pounds each. They came from a hospital radiology lab, and were used for temporary x ray shielding. Wonderful stuff! (Excellent surface to interior ratio, too!) Too big for my lead pot, I melted them in an old pot on a propane stove and cast ingots. I got nearly 1000 pounds of them from a scrap yard near Andrews Air Force Base.

I found the lead bricks had lots of other handy uses, as wheel chocks and as weights for miscellaneous purposes, so I saved about three of them. I keep one in my truck, and the others around the house.

Back in my minie ball days, I also picked a lot of lead from the backstop at Fort Shenandoah, the national range of the North-South Skirmish Association. That's a great source of pure, soft lead. They were usually caked with dirt, but it skimmed right off the top, very easy to clean. A far cry from that sheet lead.

Best advice I have is to call scrap yards, and to talk to skirmishers and others who shoot muzzle loaders.
