If you're a non-resident. Can you (legally) carry a concealed handgun on your own property?

Thanks. I own property to hunt on but live in MD. It was a lot cheaper in WV. Lower taxes also. You pay a lot for licenses though. I usually carry a handgun cause there's quite a few bears around. I was wondering if I was okay. Looks like I'm okay.

well then MD law doesn't apply. WV law would apply.

Here are the WV laws: http://www.atf.gov/publications/download/p/atf-p-5300-5/atf-p-5300-5-west_virginia.pdf

If you are the owner of the property, you decide if people can carry concealed on your property:

61-7-14. Right of certain persons to limit
    possession of firearms on premises.
Notwithstanding the provisions of this article,
any owner, lessee or other person charged with
the care, custody and control of real property
may prohibit the carrying openly or concealing of
any firearm or deadly weapon on property under
his or her domain: Provided, That for purposes
of this section "person" means an individual or
any entity which may acquire title to real
    property.
Any person carrying or possessing a firearm
or other deadly weapon on the property of
another who refuses to temporarily relinquish
possession of such firearm or other deadly
weapon, upon being requested to do so, or to
leave such premises, while in possession of
such firearm or other deadly weapon, shall be
guilty of a misdemeanor, and, upon conviction
thereof, shall be fined not more than one
thousand dollars or confined in the county jail
not more than six months, or both: Provided,
That the provisions of this section shall not apply
to those persons set forth in subsections (3)
through (6), section six [§ 61-7-6] of this code
while such persons are acting in an official
capacity: Provided, however, That under no
circumstances may any person possess or carry
or cause the possession or carrying of any
firearm or other deadly weapon on the premises
of any primary or secondary educational facility
in this state unless such person is a lawenforcement
officer or he or she has the express
written permission of the county school
    superintendent.

Just my personal opinion (I am not a lawyer)

    Inside a rented apartment: YES
    On your balcony: YES
In the hallway of your apartment building: NO
To the Mailbox crossing common ground: NO
    In the Laundry Room: NO

    YES to privately leased areas
    NO to common public areas

Just my opinion. I'm not a lawyer.

I too have property in WV.
Though WV does not issue CCW permits to "non-residents", they do honor non-resident CCW permits from Florida ... so that's where I obtained mine.

Now I'm legal anywhere in WV. :)

Now, I'm confused. I always believed that in Maryland you could carry a firearm on your property (in your home, on your property) without a permit, openly or concealed.

If this isn't correct, first don't tell my neighbors, we have all been good for several years, and secondly please let me know before you inform our local police.

I have a sneaking suspicion our crime rate is about to go way up if owning/carrying a gun on your own property is not allowed.

the confusion is he owns a house in MD (conceal carry ok) but also has property in Wv (no clue about private property carry there). which one is he asking about the world may never know

Hold on Cowboy, your thread was assumed about Personal Property in Md, and carrying not Hunting.

Better check with the jurisdiction your property is located in. Even in W.V. some areas are zoned residential, no Shooting, No Hunting.
