Good morning Maryland!!! Its a beautiful day and its great to be alive.
I have been bitten by the 6.5 bug... more particularly the PRC. For the tenth year in a row I have been focusing on my .308 and now im ready for new challenge.
Since this is a relatively new caliber, I figured id share my journey. I have literally just finished bedding my barreled action to the stock.
The platform is an old Rem 721 long action. I gave a 31” Bartlein barrel to the gunsmith, and we decided to cut it down to 27”. The barrel is 1.25” at the chamber, and tapers to 1.0” at muzzle. 1:8 twist.
The bolt face was opened up, and we also installed a sako extractor.
This sits on an old fiberglass stock that was sitting around the shop. Seemed decent enough. Looks okay.
Additionally I did a full length bed job for this build. JB weld.
I havent purchased a scope yet. Still deciding what avenue I want to go. Im a sucker for Vortex.
I have decided to start with the 143ELDX and have decided to start with a not so hot load with H4831, with CCI BR2’s.
Will add pics of the rifles performance after I find a scope and as I work up the loads.
