I got a wood stock, just picked it up from the FFL tonight. I'll post pics later.

Anyone know what to use to take tape residue off a wood stock without harming the finish?
WD40 might work. Small test spot first of course.

Sell me one I'll post a ton of pictures
Lol, noble offer. I debated a few hours while at work on whether to get one after AB's post, and then they were gone ... poof. Otherwise I would definitely be posting pics.

A little olive oil and elbow grease took care of it. Shout out to my mother for the idea :lol2:

It had a bit of freckling towards the muzzle so I hit it with some Ballistol and 0000 steel wool. Overall it's in good shape, way better than I expected.

I wish I had gotten two now :sad20:

Okay look, if you are really that disappointed in it I’ll be happy to give it a better home for $300. :lol2:

The front sight on the barrel appears to have been filled in (not needed with the bayonet mount)

Got the folder disassembled and cleaned up. Still need to clean the fixed stock one.

I bought mine expecting them to be beat up but close to free starting bases once a couple bayonet lugs and a folding stock were sold. And a 1970s Wingmaster is a great starting base. Now they seem like they may be worth more to keep in original condition, but that is a good problem to have.

Fixed stock cleaned up. The nut that holds on the barrel was tight so I didn’t completely disassemble this one. Maybe I’ll soak it with lube and apply some mild heat later.

I haven't even tried to disassemble mine. I just went ahead and got the tape off the stock and hit the freckled part of the barrel. Really kicking myself for not getting two of these :mad54:

    Looks awesome, dude!!!

Did the tape removed from the stock have any writing on it? I’ve seen some that had unit numbers written on tape.

And don’t worry, if you got two you’d be mad you didn’t get four. Ask me how I know

    What year is it?

This piece of tape had a name on it. There are numbers stenciled on the stock but I'm keeping them there.

I'm really happy with it. Way better condition than I thought it would be.

I haven't looked up the year yet. I've been working 12 hour days the last four days and it's starting to wear me down. I have a day off and a night shift this coming week so I will try to get it disassembled and look up the year.
