I know, folks...yes, this is Maryland, so there is no telling what is or is not
permitted to the great unwashed masses from on high.

That being said, I know I can keep a
handgun in my house without a permit.

I know I cannot carry it concealed or open while walking around town without the right permit.

I THINK I can carry it in the car in a locked case separate from the ammo to and from a range without a permit.

Main question is, can I open or concealed carry while out and about on
my own property, without a permit?
Ran into a little viper (copperhead, I think) the other day, and the question came to mind.

    Thanks.

Yes, your own property, open or concealed. (Business property has additional fine print.

Yes you may transport to/ from approved destinations, which includes a range, and formal or informal target shooting.

The exact methods of transport under both Md 4-203 , Federal FOPA, the differences, and in what circumstances which would apply have been discussed at great length, in more threads than can be counted. And will eternally be discussed without end.

Because this discussion is actually four seperate discussions, and they instantly become intertwined.

    1. What actual Law states.

    2. What quasi-Official anouncements from various LE Agencies state.

    3. What random individual LE Ofc states.

    4. What a wise and reasonable gunowner should do.

In MD by law you are only required to transport handguns unloaded in an enclosed case or holster. no lock required.

Transport out of state, as Bigfoot points out is done under the Federal FOPA statute Title 18 SS 926A.

    Thanks, folks.

Didn't want to kill the little
    critter, which I inadvertently chopped
up while cutting the grass (Felt badly about it.) But, it caused me to question the
    carry laws.

    As a former Fed LEO, Bigfoot's 4
    separate discussion topics hit home...
especially the last two. So doggone
    true.

    Gotta love this forum.

Beautiful day down here on the Bay in
    "Cawvert".

Not smart. Now you only have one ammo carrier for the RPG launcher instead of two.

Just wait, thousands more of my brothers will soon come here and help.

I want to know how the refugees and BLM will act towards each other. Both demanding free shit. Gonna have to get some popcorn.
