Aim just got 1943 dated M44s back in for $290 plus shipping.

For that price you should see exactly what you're getting. I'd pass.
That was me. And I know it's a premium price, but given that out of the almost 8 million M44s made only 50,000 or so were made in 1943, I'm thinking not too many more opportunities will come along. I've never actually seen a 1943 M44 in person before. To me it's worth it, to each their own.Someone posted a pic of the '47 M44 that he got from AIM and it had more billboards and import marks than I've ever seen. http://www.mdshooters.com/showthread.php?t=153235&page=13
What is the source of the 50,000 number for 1943 dated M44s? I'm a little skeptical. I'd love to have one, but I think there's more than 50K floating around out there.
Are you sure those were 1943 M44s? An estimated 3.4 million M91/30s were made in 1943, so those are relatively common, along with almost a million 1943 dated M38s, and in 1944/45 they made about 3.5 million M44s each year, but finding a 1943 dated M44 is even more rare than finding a Tula marked M44I think you're right about this. I've seen three sitting together on a rack at Chesapeake Guns and they sat for months. I've seen enough to know they don't even qualify for "uncommon".
If only 7.62x25 was easier to get and cheaper. I barely shoot my Romanian Tok.
AIM has Polish Toks in excellent condition for $239

Yeah, I wish the 9mm conversion kits were easier to find and cheaper
That's a good price. I know that they are always more expensive than Yugos or Romanians, but why? Are they considered to be better made weapons?
Oh, that billboard!
