Title says it all. He started on March 19 and finished yesterday Sept 18. Exactly six months and 2184 miles of hiking from Springer Mt Georgia to Mt. Katahdin Maine.
Here's a shot of him at the NH-ME border in serious need of a shave and a haircut:

Wow that'd quite an amazing journey. I take an elevator to go up 2 floors. Can't imagine what that would be like..... Congrats!!!!

My cousin finished the trail on Monday the 17th. Ask your son if he ran across a 25 year old going by the trail name "cheese it"from Louisiana. Walked the same, Georgia to Maine.

A huge accomplishment. Congratulations to your son.

That is awesome. I did the section through MD and that was tough enough.

A buddy and I are planning to do this. I may PM you for more information if that is okay. :D

It's a whole culture of through hikers. Would be an awesome trip and accomplishment.

Hmmm...wonder if the family will let me split for a few months?

Check out The Way. It's a Michael Douglas movie about the Camino de Santiago pilgrimage route in the Pyrenees. Pretty good stuff and on my list of things that I would love to do but will never get a chance.

Congratulations! That is a great accomplishment. I wish I did it when I was young and in the scouts and did not have a job. I have been section hiking Maryland and Pennsylvania which has been tough to do part time and working full time.
He will remember it for a lifetime, way to go!
