At the range today and all was well until it jammed for the first time. Cleared it, loaded it, and brrrrt! 3 or 4 round burst. Love the sound but a little unnerving when unexpected. My nephew was shooting at the time and handled it well, keeping the muzzle down. Any ideas or just send this one back too?

Somewhere a BATFE Agent just read "unregistered machine gun". I'd notify Taurus in the morning and get that sent out...

So it's been to Florida and back, in much less time than I expected, says they replaced barrel and recoil spring, no other info.

John, does not have fixed barrel.

Jim, yes, I thought the same thing. Have shot a couple hundred rounds since with no issues.

Trailtoy, actually, it is a fixed barrel. It is just held in differently than most. Fixed means that it does not move during recoil. Even though the barrel is installed by a different means than most, it is still fixed.

My point was that a barrel really isn't going to be the cause of slam fires. A burr on the breech block or on the extractor I can see. The only way that a barrel could contribute to slam fires (on a rimfire) is if the headspace is so short that the breech was flattening the rims.

However, it is working now so I guess it was out of spec somehow.
