“These leading Democrats also warned that if the justices proceed to issue a pro-Second Amendment ruling, and if Democrats win the White House and the Senate in 2020, then they will fundamentally remake the High Court.

The liberal senators warn that “a growing majority of Americans believes this Court is motivated mainly by politics,” accusing the justices of issuing rulings through “bare partisan majorities.”

The Democrat senators – one of whom is running for president – told the Court to either “heal itself” or be “restructured” if Democrats take power.“

If they want to get rid of Justices who rule via politics, they should make sure only originalist Justices are appointed. Boom. Solved.

To be fair...wouldn't conservatives want to stack the court with conservative justices? The difference is conservatives want justices who respect the Constitution and work within the law...liberals want to stack the court to change the Constitution to effect changes without going through the proper procedure...the Amendment process.

One's perspective depends on whose ox is being gored...nothing new.

I’m not aware of any conservatives advocating court packing, but I could be wrong.

Conservatives would want textualists/originalists as all 9.

While not discussed in this particular article, the dems weren’t talking about just “stacking the court”, they were talking about increasing the number of judges on the SCOTUS to dilute the effect of Trump’s nominees. I read two articles on it yesterday. One said that even RBG thought nine was the proper number.

Horrifying, no matter which side suggests it.

Indeed. This is a boundary in my mind, very dangerous ground when we see things like this even being suggested.....desperate attempts to exert uncontested power.

Their ongoing fury at not getting Hillary elected is just pure poison they can't get out of their system. But don't forget that even Hillary - when she was confident she'd be coronated - told a reporter that she knew she'd have trouble getting her agenda through a divided congress, and that she was anxious to seat Supreme Court justices based on life experiences and demographics, hoping to avoid any actual deep judicial background, so she could work on her legislative agenda that way, instead. Meaning: aspiring to treat the SCOTUS like a politicized mini-legislature is not a new thing for the left. The difference is that now they're talking about it out load and actually threatening it, instead of trying to sneak it in.

I'm not saying any conservatives are advocating court packing but I do believe conservatives want more conservative justices on the court...essentially the same thing. The Dems are openly saying they want to stack or add justices to essentially emasculate the conservatives present now on the court.

What is stacking? We are talking about "packing" -- increasing the number of justices when a Democrat holds the white house say going from nine to eleven justices, allowing them to alter a court that is five conservatives and four liberals to five conservatives and six liberals

There have been occasions where the GOP has had presidency and both houses and had very liberal SCOTUS and not suggested packing by restructuring the court. The Democrats have tried it before and are threatening to do it again.

Not at all true, and not "essentially" or in any way "the same thing."

The system, the fair playing rules are the President AND the Senate must totally agree, and then a justice is put in to replace one that dies or retires. if they don't compromise and agree the justice is not replaced until they do.

What the Democrats are saying is that if they control congress they are going to ADD Democrats to the court without anyone retiring.

This is not the first time that Democrats wanted to do this. FDR was trying to get laws passed and was constantly blocked by the SCOTUS. He wanted to add justices to get what he wanted.

I'm afraid that we are in a golden age of firearm ownership in this country. IMHO, rights will evaporate to virtually nil over the next 20 to 50 years.

I agree. We had the FBI attempt a coup d'etat whilst ignoring blatant national security violations of the sec state and her staff. Nothing happened, the American people view politically affiliation the same way religion was once viewed in this country.

We're headed for a velvet divorce or full on Yugoslav style conflict. It's really sad but unfortunately people make the same mistakes over and over again.

Speaking of that, the Horowitz report is expected in a few weeks. I’d love to believe that it’s a massive bombshell and cause significant outrage with “moderates” and independents........but I will also not hold my breath.

Additionally, if you all check out the Forward Observer YouTube channel, he does a 5 part series on American CW2. And in his estimation, it’s not armies and militias, but a slow march into socialism/communism/tyranny.

The conclusions reached seem pretty reasonable (unfortunately for “us”) and logical. I’m sure that stems from his prior employment as an intel analyst.
