Another great day for this fun match. We had 11 shooters, great weather and we made a few changes to the way the match is run. Everything went smoothly except for one rifle malfunction on Mikes 03 A4 and me shooting another shooter's target by mistake after a quick sight adjustment during my final string. Nothing like throwing away a possible 10 points at the very end of the match.:sad20: It's a good thing we don't do this for money.

Here are the changes we made with the hopes of simplifying the operation, increase safety and save some money for the club.

    1. Starting in the September match, the round count will change from three strings of 8 shots to three strings of 10 shots.

    1. Shooters will keep the same target for the entire match.

    2. A group of shooters will shoot their entire string of 30 rounds before the next group begins their shoot.

3 At the completion of an 10 round string, a cease fire will be called and the course workers will walk down to the targets, record scores and put stickers on the holes.

    4. Shooters at the bench may walk down and look at the targets when the course workers go down for the scoring.

    5. Chamber flags will be put into the rifle chambers will cease fire is called.

    Now for the results:

Just a thought- if the goal of the switch from 8 to 10 rounds is to have the Garand shooters perform a mag change (enbloc clip), to even the playing field with those rifles that only hold 5 rounds, you may want to include language that for all rifles the 10 rounds must include a clip or mag change or a hand loaded round. Because I believe there are some rifles that qualify for this match with magazines available that hold more than 10 rounds.
