I dropped the coin on a Streamlight flashlight. It takes CR123A batteries. I'm looking to stock up. Any preference on brands? Amazon has Duracell, Streamlight, Panasonic, and some brands I haven't heard of. What's the best bang for the buck on these? Thanks.

I suspect like a lot of batteries, they all come out of maybe 3 different factories and they get private labeled. Probably not a world of difference between brands.

    Just speculation though.

I use the rechargeable (RCR123) batteries for my flashlights that 18650's won't fit. If you google flashlight forums, you will find a wealth of info as those guys have tested everything for years.

I ordered from Amazon and they came in a bag instead of normal packaging. Ziplock. They did not last either. Google that and you will see it's been an issue. I am not sure what seller it was. I need to research soon for more also.

Thanks for info. Going to check out some of the above.

Just about all LED flashlights can handle the voltage a rechargeable RCR123 puts out, some actually measure their peak brightness with one being the voltage is higher. I've used a few, AW cells take a beating (have drained unprotected cells past the 3V minimum dozens of times over 5+ years)and they always come back, best I've found so far, and not really that expensive.

I've bought bulk from Amazon too - always Panasonic brand and haven't had any issues. Here's a link to the one's that I've bought that are good:

if you're ever in a pinch, Lowes sells 2-packs of Surefire brand.

I've used a bunch of the Titanium batteries from Battery Junction, as well. Like another posted, the only measurable difference I noticed between them and the "big names" is the price. $1 each if you buy less than 11. Pricing goes down as order quantity goes up. The thing I like is the batteries are also available in double and triple shrink wrapped variations. No more fumbling around with loose batteries, or worries of mixing old and new together if you have a light that takes more than one battery. They also offer free shipping on orders over $50. If you only have 1 single cell light, this might be more batteries than you want at a time (at 50, the price drops to $0.96 each, so you need to order 53 for the free shipping), but they also sell flashlights and a bunch of other stuff.
