I would guess it's for a single shot .22 rifle. It doesn't have a magazine cut. It doesn't have recoil lug crossbolt or an area for the large recoil lug of a centerfire rifle to sit against. It also looks like it's secured by only one action screw.

looks like the model 7 schnabel front end.
action length on the 7 is about 1/2" shorter than a s/a 700 (7.625" on the 7, versus 8" on the 700 s/a). That's likely a handle from an older ADL model 7 youth.

Similar but I don't think thats it, no cut out/slot for the bolt in the stock. ????

The half pistol grip looks like Late 1800's to early 1900's Remington, but damn if I can find it in my books.

Closest I've found with the "Amish woman's best friend" but grip is different (which looks like an Anschutz to me).
