Ready to upgrade to the semi-auto world this year. With staying budget friendly, I am considering a Stoeger m3500 or a Beretta a300. Looking for opinions on either or even other fowl guns around the $800 range. Thanks!

Just purchased a used Stoeger m3000 last year for waterfowl. I like it better than my mossberg 500 and have not had any issues with it. It didn’t mind getting wet/muddy.

Can't comment on the stoeger, but the a300 is a nice gun. Got the wood one a few years ago for $600. Camo was also on sale for $600, and the synthetic was down to $500. Those were Black Friday prices, but you could probably get close. Here is one with the synthetic stock for $540:

With shipping and transfer fee, you could have that for under $600 OTD.

I got an A300 2 years ago and I love it. It shoots light trap loads and 3" BB's, and everything in between, without a hitch.

It's too bad the MP-153 (SPR-453) is not available any more. I bought one 8 years back maybe and it's a work horse. Guys complain it's heavy, but I only pick it up to drop birds. It's flawless, easy to take apart and I only had $350 in it. Two buddies bought one after trying mine.

I've had the A300 for a few years now. Haven't had any issues to date, have used it for pheasant, goose, duck, and turkey hunting. If it matters, you can only shoot up to 3" shells with it.

    Don't get the Stoeger.

Buy a lightly used A400 ($1,200 to $1,350) and be done with it.

    Buy once, cry once.

Was going to suggest the sx4 or a300. I have a browning a5 (new version) that has been very reliable. Needs almost no maintenance. Maybe see if you can find a used one.

Any of those options are good.

I got an SX4 back in December. Been on a few hunts both wet and dry. Great gun!

I bought a used Stoeger M3500 at a pawn shop for a great price. It has been very good addition to the fleet. I heard some complaints of the 3500 not cycling low brass
dove loads. I have not had that problem. The M3500 uses the Benelli internals and shoots up to 3 1/2 inch Magnum loads. I love it.

I’ll be going to bass pro to see how each feels in hand tonight. Seems like comparing these guns are like Chevy vs Ford. Gonna come down to feel and price. I’ll let you guys know what happens. Thanks for all the feedback.
