I access and use the NICS system every day. If you did something in one of the 50 states and got caught, we know about it; so you might as well tell the truth.
IANAL but for the gun owner to be held responsible it seems there has to be either;
-knowledge that the person using you gun is prohibited
-intent on the part of the gun owner to skirt the law or ignore reasonable or obvious facts about the borrower
I don't think we're at the point yet where NICS checks are required on everyone we want to lend our guns to.....but IANAL
