We have a new Newfie puppy about 4 months old and the dude is a chewer. I got rid of the antler I had when the previous big dog passed last year and haven't found any at Patapsco this year while scouting for deer season. We purchased a little piece at the pet store and he LOVES it.

Does anyone have an extra they would be willing to donate to a good cause? Prefer Howard Co or near Arundel Mills.

    Thanks in advance.

Petco and Petsmart both carry antler chew toys. They ain't cheap, but they last a good while.

$8 for a 4 inch split. After a week a bit is left but it’s almost a choking hazard for a dufus puppy. Too expensive to buy once a week.

You can always go find your own, but you're about 8-9 months away.

Splits are much easier for dogs to chew

Antlers come in soft, medium or hard from a knowledgeable vendor

    There are tips, bases, etc

They come in very different lengths and circumferences

Once again, if you don’t know what you want/the dog needs, anything will do...until it doesn’t.

    Good luck

I have always satisfied my chewers with Silver maple limbs. They need trimming every year or other year as they lean down. Cut one off and cut into 12" or so lengths. Its softer and lets them be destructive a bit while also cleaning their teeth some. Some dogs I have had like to strip the bark when the sticks are green too. It's free and they like it.

I have always steered away from bone and antlers as my labs want to eat them and not just chew on them. Even pigs ears, the last lab chewed it soft and swallowed it whole and that was interesting to watch the next day struggling to let it back out. ;) Tried smoking butchered deer leg bones for the lab and once the sinew was off crunch! Pig bones are too small also and can make them sick. Last one ate part of a pig bone and became a soft ice cream machine for a day and a half.
