So I was re-reading HB294 in preparation for tomorrow's attempt to testify and it occurred to me that maybe there is good data out there somewhere which demonstrates that Maryland's 1994 assault pistol ban had no effect on the crime stats.

    Anyone have any pointers?

The federal AWB had no impact on violence or crime. There's a report by the DOJ/ATF that supports this (I don't have a link handy, but you can Google it).

I've seen the federal report already - was trying to bring it closer to home to demonstrate that the "assault pistol" ban didn't do anything, and neither would the "assault long guns" ban.

So far all I've been able to come up with is the "murder and nonnegligent manslaughter" data, which unsurprisingly mirrors the national trends, but at about 5x the rate. As you can see, there was no meaningful change after 1994, either nationally, at the state level or within Baltimore city.
