My 16" A.F.H. 1905 came in today. It's in great shape with the less common reddish brown grips.
I also scored a real Detroit Gasket Company scabbard for it that is in excellent condition.

Pictured are the 16" 1905 along with a A.F.H 10" M1 that also has a matching, real USGI M7 scabbard on a 1943 and a 1944 Springfield Garands one of which Charlie Maloney has been through.

If you don't mind sharing, what did you pay for the garand bayonet? I'm waiting on a cmp rifle and am curious what I can expect to pay for a decent condition bayonet.

    You can find a real M1 bayonet for $75 - $150. A real, USGI M7 scabbard for $50-$70.

A real 1905 is considerably more as is a real USGI 1905 scabbard. The Detroit Gasket scabbards are few and far between and I paid more than I will admit.

Before buying, I recommend doing your homework - there are a lot of reproductions, fakes and a imported bayonets and scabbards out there.

I found this book, YouTube and the CMP Forum pretty useful in educating myself.

FWIW, the CMP E-Store has USGI M-16 M-7 Bayonet & M8A1 Scabbard for sale for $42. They won't last long.

No problem. Good luck with the Garand and finding a nice bayonet.

I actually had a member PM me with some for sale,
after I mentioned looking for one in another thread. Maybe they'll chime in. I kind of want to see what I end up with garand- wise before I decide how much to invest in a bayonet. My rifle order posted to the e store the other day, but no charge to my card yet. Shouldn't be long now.

Looks like CMP Greek returns with the black blades. Got a nice M1905 dated 1906 with wooden grips from CMP several years ago.

I might have talked with the same MDS member AFTER I had already bought these. I thought his prices were pretty fair and had I not already bought these I probably would have taken him up on his.

Good luck with the Garand - the wait is the worst part.

These are beautiful. I would love to find a couple bayonets for mine. I don't need anything special but would like one that's at least authentic. Where would you suggest i look?

I’d start by learning as much as you can about them. In an earlier post in this thread I posted a pic of a book and some links. The reason for that is there are a lot of fakes, reproductions and bayonets that have been ruined by grinding on them. Real, no $hit scabbards are what’s even harder to find.

Once you know what you are looking for and what to look for, I’d stalk eBay, gunbroker, guns international and the like.
