Well, since I am an absolute failure with all attempts to powder coat a bullet so far. ;)

I decided I can’t load and can’t shoot what I do not have. So I broke out the lube pan and the 3:1 deer fat lube and pan lubed 115 183 grain 30 caliber rounds.

I pop them out of the lube once hard and cool and size to .309 and seat the gas check. I poured lube right over the crimp groove as I do for 45 colt. I just paper towels the nose once seated and crimped.

Now to determine if 29 grains of IMR 3031 @2010 FPS and a pressure of 32384 will be make leading. I hope not but I’m gonna find out unless directed otherwise

    Marlin 336-A '58 in 30-30 and hopefully a Remi 700 in 30.06

Smokey, I shoot BP my whole life after going to the range and learning how fast $20 worth of ammo burnt. $20 in BP supplies lasted half the afternoon in the 90's

I'd guess sized to .310 would do better, or at least it has for me in a couple of 30-30's I load for. You can open up the lee push through sizer with some sand cloth on a wooden dowel and WD40 pretty quickly if .309 gives you leading.

For lube 50-50 bees wax and 2 cycle oil is a simple lube that works well if what you have doesn't work out for you. Pan lube will work fine. I typically use a spent unsized case to cut the bullets out of the lube cake after it sets up but while still a little warm.

I got up yesterday morning and loaded 10 naked bullets and 10 powder coated bullets. Then I was going to shoot them at 9:30, but the wife had other ideas about me annoying her and the neighbors. So I went to the buddies house and Setup the target. Shot three PC and then two just for sighting. They shoot lower and tot he right compared to when I shot remi 150 grains. Could be me free handing it a bit too. Then I shot all ten lead cartridges clusters. At the end a shot 5 fairly quick and reloaded the last two for my buddy to shoot and he shot them out and that barrel was hot! Sighted down the barrel with a light when home and didn't even notice powder residue. Will clean it this morning in a bit before work, but no lead to be seen, so far. Fairly happy and lower the rear sight and and will lead sled it and see if I need to tap the front sight to right at all.

Set 99 primers in cartridges as I curled the top on one trying to setup the M die and lowing the fairing tool. Thought it was close and this angle single stage press takes some getting used too. Filled, seated and crimped the remaining rounds when I got home.

29 grains IMR 3031 with a 183 gas checked lubed NOE bullet. They weight 185 when PC is applied. The lubes doesn't seem to add any weight. No chrono in this house but Gordon's says 2009 FPS.

[EDIT] A couple small pieces of man glitter noticed on the cleaning patches with solvent that must have been left in the deeper parts of the rifling. Very very small and only noticeable because the reflect light.

I forgot to add, not sure if it was the 183 grain bullet, or the 3031, but it had a noticeably more recoil to it that shooting Remington 150's. Noticeably different sound too.
