Received and installed the steel breech. Found a 4x32 scope in my box of stuff. It isn't the best, sight picture is blurry...probably why it was given to me a few years back. I shot a few rounds to get it on paper. I'm waiting for the lever pin to arrive before I start shooting it a lot. I don't want to egg out the hole with the temporary punch...and I don't want to pound the original pin back in. Looking for a clearer, inexpensive optic...I like the fixed 4x, but I'm not married to the idea of fixed...if I find a relatively short stubby optic.

Most likely it's the range the parallax was set at. (35-50yds). You can probably loosen the outer locking ring and screw the lens out just a bit (or might be in just a bit, can't remember) and get it in perfect focus at 10yds. The only downside to doing this is that your infinity focus will now we off. But if you are using it on a pumper I doubt you will be needing focus beyond 30yds.

Thank you....I will try that...and.....it worked....loosened the rear, backed the lense out till the sight picture was clear, re-tightened....the pin arrives today...so I will get some shooting in tonight to see if I notice improvements with the steel breach being added.....

Got the front pin in...was stalking the mailbox....my guy runs late around here....
33', 7.4g crosman destroyers....5 pumps. Ignore those two up top...I noticed the scope lense had come loose from adjusting it earlier.....I need to clean the barrel as mentioned earlier by JohninMD. I have a bore snake arriving shortly...but so far it is tightening up nicely....I think I'm leaning towards a little more magnification or a maybe better glass in an optic...I know these are small holes but I'd like to be able to see a little clearer of where I'm hitting without leaving the bench.

Got the bore snake in....the breech is too small to accommodate the weighted end...cutting it down then rendered it too light to pull itself down the barrel...oh well,...guess I'm getting a dedicated rod kit for it. I have a bore brush in my pistol kit, but not long enough to go all the way down the barrel...brushed what I could...

Yeah, tried that too...any experience with the "cleaning pellets"?

I use them on the guns I can take the silencer off of. I shoot 1 coated with CLP, let it sit for a few minutes then I shoot 2 clean ones. It seems to work as the felt is a tight fit and I get no dieseling.

I am reluctant to shoot them through my silencers although there are people on the net who say it works ok.

You could always use a vacuum to pull the weight thru.

I've got a pull thru cleaner that I picked up on ebay a few years ago, but can't find them anymore. Made from what looks like coated trolling wire. The ends are looped. Easy to use on .177.
Lots of guys make pull thru from weedeater line. There is a commercial version know as the patch worm.

That would have to be a really flexible wire to make the 90 degree turn in my PCP breaches.

It is. I haven't had many problems cleaning any of the below PCP's

    Prod .22
    Mrod .22
    MRod .20
    MRod .177
    Disco .22
    Fx Wildcat .25
    Fx Wildcat .177
    Hammerli 850 HPA .22
    Hammerli Dominator .177
    Diana Skyhawk .22
    Taipan Mutant.22
    Daystate Pulsar .22
    Daystate Huntsman .22
    Daystate Air Ranger .25
    Logun Solo .177
    Brocock Compatto .22
    Brocock Compatto .177
    Hatsan At44 .25
    Hatsan AT44 .177
    Hatsan Flash .25
    Hatsan Flash .177
    AirArms s410 .22
    AirArms S200 .177
    BSA Tech star .22
    BSA Ultra .25

I probably missed one or two. The BSA Ultra and the Hammerli's were probably the hardest due to the breech actually covering the magazine. But still able the get the loop out to feed the patch in.

Impressive list! Noticed you have a few .25’s. Are they much more advantageous than the .22’s. Does the added weight warrant the lower velocity? I ask in the context of small game hunting.

Excuse me if I jump in from my limited .25 experience. I find my .25 gives me longer range killing power. My Avenger, set for 2900 PSI, hits as hard at fifty yards as some .22 Long Rifles using 33 to 36 grain slugs. I wouldn't buy a springer in .25 because I don't think it works as well as a .22 in that platform but for a PCP, I highly recommend it.

    Had, not have. I only have 4 (soon to be 3) PCP's now. I didn't include the 3 QB79's that I converted to bottled HPA, nor the duplictes. 2 Compatto .22's, 2 S200's, 2 Taipan's, 2 Prod's, 2 Huntsman's. Man I did have a lot, LOL.

It does give you experience though. In reference to the .25's for me all it did was add cost. While the "big" tins of pellets are mostly the same cost with the .22 you get 500 but with the .25 you get 350. Nowadays JSB makes the .22 as heavy as their .25 at 34 grains. The .22 actually exceeds the .25 in sectional density. A .25, in the same platform as a ,22 will however generally be able to push the pellets to a higher velocity due to the greater area of pellet to push on. (.049 vs .038 sq in)

I've never really felt the need for more then 30fpe for small game. (That's why I kept my Huntsman in .22) Using a "basic" rule of 1FPE per lb of body weight this would equate to medium sized coyote. If I were specifically targeting coyote I would take the .17hmr. Can't think of any other small game getting this big.
