I'm sure it's been asked many times but...what clubs around Maryland have Garand matches? And not even officially sanctioned CMP matches necessarily...even just fun matches to be able to get the Garand out and shoot it.

Any coming up soon? I have never shot a Garand match anywhere but would like to give it a try some time. Where/when?

(I'm on the eastern shore but can certainly do a little driving.)

Fairfax Rod & Gun in Manassas, VA does high power matches every month, on the first and third Saturdays of each month. From August to November, the do a four match series just for vintage rifles, by CMP Games rules with Course B, though they are not sanctioned. Those vintage matches are on the third Saturday only if I’m reading the calendar correctly.

The spring league matches are first and third weekend, both days of each weekend, this April and May. They’re NRA High Power rules. You’re welcome to shoot it with an M1.

It looks like Thurmont has resumed their CMP matches.

If you've attended these, have any competitors used fixed-up Garands, like this one? Thanks in advance.

Yes, match legal in Service Rifle for the spring league and regular monthly matches. It’s not commonly used though since most everyone uses National Match ARs these days.

There were two or three M1 shooters at the match this past weekend, though I’m pretty sure they were as-issued. I once shot one of those NRA course of fire matches with an M1903.

Not technically match legal for the fall vintage matches since they go by CMP Games As-Issued rules, but they’re lax about it. You can still shoot non match legal stuff out of competition though, meaning it’s not eligible for the few tens of dollars in each prize category at the end.

About 80 miles west of Frederick off I68, Flintstone exit, then south about 9 miles, on Cresap Mill Road.
Their schedules are on their site.
CMP GSM matches (30+5 rounds) on 6/27 and 8/29.
600 yard (3x20 rounds) every month.
    CMP EIC matches 5/23, 7/25, 9/19

Did the 600yd once with my CMP Special. Took 3 rounds to get on target. First low, into the sandbags. Second whistled over their heads. Third, on target.

    All matches open to everybody.
