The ejector is tricky to remove (and reinstall, get a couple extra pins..and springs lol), but without Military gages that are modified to clear the ejector and extractor, they really should be removed before checking headspace.

Sounds like you are on to the issue, but I would still want my headspace to pass and I surely wouldn't test it with 556 ammo, only 223 til it passed the min 556 gage.

I revised some ammo today and I just wanted to clarify that it DID successfully camber a round. When I talked to the gentleman on the phone at DEZ Arms he did explain that they use a smaller gauge because it results in a few extra rounds down range.

Just wanted to thank everyone that helped me trouble shoot the problem.

Chambering a live round does not mean its safe.

Short headspace increases chamber pressure and can lead to poor accuracy, failures to fire, popped primers, hard or no extraction after firing, hard extraction of live and unfired rounds, and possibly a KB of the casing ruptures or the gun does not lock up 100%.

Tight headspace on a clean and room temp gun is also much different than a hot gun with fouling and short headspace.

Im certain that my replies here are not what you want to hear. You seem to be satisfied with the answers they gave you .

Im telling you that short headaspace is just as dangerous as excessive headspace.

I would still get it checked out by a qualified AR man. You have nothing to lose but a couple fingers, an eye or two, a cheek....

Yea I know, I had taken it to my local gun shop to check head-spacing with the gauge I have obviously it doesn't properly shut so I called Dez back up and the guy answered with an attitude about "did you check it with a live round" and at the time I didn't have any ammo but today I had gotten some and it successfully shut all the way. I was gonna call them back up tomorrow to tell them my concerns about having to force the bolt close with a round in the chamber and it just barley making it with 2x-3x more pressure than what I see in head-spacing videos. I have a vary good feeling that hes gonna blow more smoke up my a$$ about "yea that's how its suppose to be, its safe to fire" and that i'm out $200. My plan was to talk to one of the guys at the range ask them their opinion on if its safe or not and inspect the casings of any signs of over pressure or deformity.

I would still like to know if the bolt if fully closed is there still a chance of the gun exploding due to over pressure and what not or does that only happen when it doesn't fully close?

I think what clandestine is saying is yes. There's a chance of bad things happening even if the bolt closes.

He's helped a lot of people here, and can probably fix your issue if you listen to him. I've certainly learned a lot for having never met the guy.

Its been explained to you, or do you want a second opinion?

FWIW, good luck with asking joe blow range employee about pressure indicators on brass and headspace specs.

How about this. Before you start asking them questions ask them what is the headspace specs for a .223/5.56 and what the starting # is without using google.

So just buy a new barrel? That is the only fix correct?

No send the barrel back and ask it to be reamed to SAAMI specs. *

While an in spec AR is damn near impossible to have an OOB detonation due to the design of the bolt and firing pin on an out of spec AR bad things can happen Chad can probably elaborate more.

*If they are intentionally sending out barrels with tighter than SAAMI spec barrels marketed for a SAAMI spec cartridge the company is run by fvcking retards and their lawyers are even bigger fvcking retards.

I'm not a gunsmith and have never handled an AR but I've always told people to have respect for what can hurt or kill you if mishandled.
In other words, don't fire it until you can verify that the firearm is right.

I have never met him, but I have read enough posts by or about Clandestine, to trust anything he says in regards to ARs.
    He won't steer you wrong.
With that said, when or if I build an AR, I plan to take one of Clandestine's classes, to help me better understand how to build an AR.

I had sent a email asking to return the barrel, in the mean time we're do you guys get your barrels from?
Also sorry about not listening to you guys, I figured that the guy who manufactured the barrels would know what he was talking about but literally everybody who responded said he was incorrect and that it's dangerous to fire so I would like to thank you because if I would have only listened to the guy at Dez I would only have half of my face right now.
