Hi, I am building my first AR-15 and I can't figure out if I legally have to pin/weld my Seekins ATC on my 16" threaded barrel. I've tried searches and read the law, but can't find the language. Little help?

    Thanks very much.

    No, you don't.

The only time you need to pin/weld a muzzle device is to get a <16" barrel to >=16". To avoid a tax stamp.

Another time you might want to do this is to get the OAL of the rifle to >=29". The OAL of a rifle in MD must be >=29" in MD, or it is a copycat and banned

Also keep in mind the >=29" OAL is the rifle with the butt stock in the fully deployed position.

So if it has a folding or collapsible stock, it is with the stock in the FULLY extended position.
