Trying to set a reasonable limit..I am figuring on the 556 and 762 brass only....what do you think would be a reasonable amount per pound to bid?

I found a place that is buying at $1.30/lb for scrap casings...

    .4434 oz per casing (194gr per casing/437.5 gr/oz) * lbs of brass = casings in a box.

500lbs of casings should yield 18,000+ casings provided their weights are accurate.

Still off, if we are talking 223.

There is roughly 73 cases per pound for 223.

    73 cases x 500lbs = 36,500

This has been tried several times. Here on MDS. The bids go WAY high.

Then there is a 10% "fee" on top of the winning bid price. And you need to provide end user certification as these are restricted from export.

AND you have to pick it up and transport it in a fairly short timeframe.

The transport and EUC are no problem...it is tryinh to figure out where the bid point is to not overpay....so we know that $1.30 pound is the scrap price (average)... so I figure after $2-3 dollars a pound you are looking at pretty slim margins if you are trying to resell.... unless I am completely off base?

one of the tools available on the website is a "previous bids" link where you can see recent winning bids.
$.02 per CASE is a low estimate for 5.56/.223 brass based on my records.

I'm willing to go in on one or two of these auctions if anyone wants to split it up. I'm interested in 5.56/223 or 7.62. It would be be a bonus if it was at Ft. Meade, I wouldn't have a prob getting there to pick it up:)

Depending on what your plan is I would be in for something.

If you want to process and sell some at a higher price, I could o that as well.

Like I said...anyone interested, let me know...I am registered on the site...we can work out a plan and figue out what our cap is and which ones we want to bid on and go from there...these pop up all the time and I am sure we can get one eventually as long as we don't overspend and know exactly what we want to bid on...

we can either discuss here or PM if desired...just let me know...
