How much play in a mosins forend is typical

    Gents:

    I just picked up an m91/30 and was fooling around with it. It needs a non-bent up rear barrel band, and I tightened the stock screws as much as I felt comfortable doing without stripping the holes.

    However, if you grab the end of the barrel and put any force on the stock, the barrel will touch against the last bit of forend wood.

    I assume this is normal because the wood is so long and has flex in it. I'd just like confirmation, if this is atypical I'd like to try to fix it.
