Some select reading on what may be coming down the pike in MD. Pretty much anything that punishes lawful gun owners, yet does nothing to deter or prevent the true criminals, is on the table.

AFAIK this 2020 Maryland legislation session is going to be brutal for gun-owners. Basically many of the gun-control bills that got scrapped in 2019 will be revived and passed in 2020. The new Senate President Bill Ferguson is also far more liberal Democrat than his predecessor Mike Miller. Given Democrats hold a 2/3 majority in the House and Senate they can override any governor veto. Mike Miller is one of the reasons why many of the gun-control bills that passed the in the House failed in the Senate. Several moderate Democrats have or are resigning as well which leaves mostly hardcore liberal anti-gun Democrats.

    Get ready for

    1) LGQL - Long gun qualification license
    2) More restrictions and bans on rifles and ownership. Ban on AR-15s and other rifles, likely no grandfathering.
    3) Bans/restrictions on transfers, private sales
    4) Background checks on ammunition purchase, possibly a permit to purchase (HQL accepted) handgun ammunition.

Just to name a few bills on the way.

I'll be there to stand picket duty out front and in the gallery as conditions and health permit.

REMINDER: Free garage parking after 6 pm, with a leisurely walk to the site of the Civil Rights violation after.

    Count on it!

Miller was definitely not on our side, but he tabled/drawered the more blatant violations of our rights. He knew egregarious damaging lawsuit fodder when he saw it. That restraint is gone now.

Exactly my point earlier. Mike Miller was no champion of gun rights in Maryland, but he did restrain and stop some of the crazy gun-control measures the liberals in his party wanted to pass this year.

The new guy replacing him Bill Ferguson is a staunch liberal and very pro gun-control. So when the bills pass the House like they did last year they are likely to pass the Senate overwhelmingly in 2020 session.

Maryland is so bad even Mike Miller is a better option than what you have now.

Last year Julian Ivey sponsored HB 0612 the AR 15 ban. I checked his FB back then and he was getting slammed for it. I'd say a little over 50% negative among his own constituents. As of now he has erased any trace of that bill and there is zero anti gun bs on his FB.

I think engaging the anti reps on there social media sites could be a very effective deterrent if done early. They may be anti gun but they care more about there popularity and elect-ability.

I will be ready to show up again this year.

Grab a beer, stream some "Active self-Protection" on youtube, and write some letters. Don't forget committee chairs, who may not be in your district, but as committee chairs, represent the interest of all Maryanders. Remind them of that.

Oh, and remind them of the low compliance rate of gun "buy backs" in New Zealand....

Good seeing you at the MSI meeting on Saturday Kicken Wing!

It was good seeing you as well! I wish I would have made it there a little earlier. I wanted to chat with you. I made about 2 minutes before the meeting began and you had to take off early. I am under the impression that Baltimore's SAFE ACT is being publicly heard on Monday. I hope to see you there. I want to attend but just have to make sure that I have the specifics correct, time date, place, etc. I have time on Monday to take up a seat along side of the MSI group.
