There is already a thread in the Water Cooler all about this. There is a lot more that will happen after this verdict, like the possible reduction of it to $450,000.

Now, I went and read a couple of news articles about the trial, and it appears that the officers and one of the defense's key witnesses gave inconsistent testimony at trial. Their trial testimony did not match their deposition testimony. Kind of makes you wonder. I have to wonder if there were any other eye witnesses to the shooting other than police officers and a 5 year old boy that got shot in the face.

Also, note that the vast majority of the award went to the 5 year old boy that was shot in the face. Officer should have just shot the woman in the head and that would have been the end of $32 million of the verdict. Might have also helped is all the officers had consistent testimony between their depositions and the trial. Telling the truth is easy, because the story always remains the same. Trying to keep track of ones lies results in the story changing. Who knows, maybe all the officers were telling the truth, they just could not remember what happened on this day when a woman was shot to death and a 5 year old boy was shot in the face.

Ultimately, I am betting that the verdict gets reduced unless Baltimore County does not want to appeal.
