Hi all! I'm a Carroll County native, I enjoy trap shooting, have been in shooting sports since I could hold a gun.

Maryland seemed to be a cold void until I found this forum, so I'm glad to see there's a community of like minded law abiding enthusiasts.

Right now I've only got my cheap Maverick 88's, and I'm hoping to expand my collection in the upcoming months. Looking for a decent safe, and a few rifles to start with (with a budget in mind).

Welcome! For every dollar you put into guns, consider a couple of pennies to go into the organizations that are trying to make Maryland great again (for gun owners!). MSI is a good place to start.

You'll find endless support, here, for your collecting urge. The more specific you are about your interests, the better the advice you'll get!

    What he said ^^^^

Get more safe storage than you think you'll ever need. It still won't be enough.

OK so go see SCSG who are an IP here, they have some great selection and are close. Brian is good people.

Mags, anything over 10 need to be purchased outside of the state. Gettysburg is a great option for that.... Brian goes to that and can sell you the mags he pulled from the AR you bought from him.... ;)

What are you looking for specifically to start said collection?

    Handgun
    Rifle
    Price range
    Use?

I am looking into MSI. Right now it looks like dollars spent there might immediately benefit my family more than other organizations.

I am split on the storage thing - I guess I should at least get a mid size safe. Just can't break the bank

    Thanks for the input.

For starters it would be nice to find cheap (<$120) .22 rifles for shooting with family. I have a family member with a backyard just large enough to accommodate low caliber shooting.

I'm also interested in anything AR (including .22 - but mostly .556/.223). Looking for a semi automatic rifle that can be used for plinking and home defense.

I also need a gun safe before I start having too much liability. Looks like an 18 gun safe is ideal.

I already have shotguns but I'm a fan of Mossberg 500/88. Love trap shooting at CCGC.

For trade, I used to be a computer gaming enthusiast, and I have experience in software development (on a side note - does this site need developers?).

Welcome aboard. For plinking for the family 10/22 many flavors as well as m&p 15/22. First looks like regular semi auto rifle and second looks like an AR 15. Both are great .22 for cheap plinking. I use them after shooting .223/5.56 and .300 ARs. Both wonderful rifles.
