"Police took a report and checked Manchester’s father’s gun to make sure it was registered."

Is this a common thing that happens if police respond to a call. What if it's not registered?

That must have been quite an adventure !!
I cut a Christmas tree down for a buddy from an old hunting property once. It had been a tree farm years ago and had some great trees. Well, I also shot a big doe that morning and had them both in the back of my truck. Since my my buddy wasn't home, I put the tree on his back deck. When he got home his 2 labs went crazy when he let them out. He had to air the tree out for a few days before bringing it in the house.

"Shortly after, police arrived, along with animal control. Police took a report and checked Manchester’s father’s gun to make sure it was registered."

I got this from the story. What kind of bull is this?

If I had to guess, checked serial number to make sure it wasn't stolen.

“I’m glad I shot it,” Manchester said. . . . But after it did all that, it wasn’t leaving alive.”

    Revenge killing.

There'll be a herd outside his house, with "Deer Lives Matter" signs, and they'll trash his vegetation.

All this for an out of control deer destroying someone's home. What a joke. Shoot it, kill it, dispose of it, and move on.

Wow. I'd hate to have to clean up that mess. This is the lesson - always have your guns at the ready so you can take the dear before it destroys your house. Then you have a freezer with meat, a new piece of art for the wall, and the cops don't come to check for registration.

Heard this story on the radio today when going to do the paperwork on my Lower Receiver. I was two thumbs up for what he did. Registered gun? Is there such a law in MD that I am not aware of? I would think if i bought it in MD it would be "Registered" but knowing this state it probably takes another three forms to fill out and 7 day waiting period and $1000.00 fine for not registering when purchased :mad54:

Crazy story...I'm rather shocked MD didn't find a way to press some sort of charges.

It's Frederick County. I'm not surprised that law enforcement was understanding of the situation. Not sure if the Sheriff's office would have got the call for Walkersville.

    I agree.

Noted from the article that the kid didn't waste time, and processed the deer in the backyard. Looks like he didn't trust his dad's gun and called it a piece of junk, lol.

I saw the results of a deer breaking into a bookstore years ago. The owner was pretty much a typical liberal but he changed his attitude after that deer destroyed his business. He totally supports hunting and owning guns today. :party29:

Not sure why they checked, none of their business.

If I had to guess, checked serial number to make sure it wasn't stolen.

And then they took the TV to make sure it wasn't stolen.

    And then the fridge.

    And then ...

What a lame excuse for gun grabbing.

I'm just guessing, certainly not excusing.

Why would you want to shoot a family member????
