Maryland Whitetail.Com(MWC) has a yearly contest with teams and prizes. I've entered such contests. I see no harm a in them what so ever. Those people are some of the biggest proponents of humane and proper treatment of any and all wildlife.

Not sure what the gripe is about.

    Could it be fishing contests?
    Shark? Marlin? Hell, bass?

This is pandering to the antis. Most sportsmen I know are highly ethical. I’m no contest guy but I can see the allure. Properly run, they should be just fine.

We don’t need more government or regs or laws...

Then they would saying "fishing", not "hunting".

If they were talking fishing, that would be interesting. Back in my waterman days, every headboat had a pool for biggest fish and most fish, by count.

Put a buck in the pot and split. It was all informal, in fun, but still a prize for the days take. Doesn’t seem too different, just less organized and publicized.

If they could, some politicians would love to get rid of hunting. After all, that’s the ENTIRE reason for the 2a... right?! /sarc SARC!!!

These are all the rage out west these days. Mainly geared at ‘yote hunts.

There are a few here in Maryland as well. Predator Hunters of 1 Maryland hold a big one every year. If they are determined to stop coyote hunting that should fly real well with farmers. Yes that's sarcasm

Just checked with them and they say yes it also includes furbearers so this would end any competitive coyote hunting.

I thought it was geared at fox hunting.

Another solution looking for a problem. Way to focus on the important issues of the day, MGA. You douchebags.

If it was geared at the horse community for fox hunting, I THINK ITS AWESOME!!

If not, the rest of your post applies.

The "BIG PRIZE" for the MWC contest is usually a damn hat, and then...maybe. It is more for bragging rights and trash talking.

Why does the MGA think they need to regulate every-single-thing in the state?

    Agenda.

Laugh at me while I conspiracize from a MGA point of view:

1- A very large percentage of "hunters" will never involve themselves in Annapolis (MGA) business. This is proven.

2- Take away hunting opportunities or motivation

3- Since you aren't hunting anymore, you don't need that gun.

4- Take guns that they don't need.

    Remove the underpinning
